Building The Whole Church

At Women’s Ministries Victoria, we have a vision for women in all seasons of life to grow in maturity in Christ and to use their gifts alongside men as fellow workers in the Gospel. (Rom 16:3) We believe that men and women are created by God as equal in dignity and value to work together but with distinct roles in church and family life and in partnership as workers in the gospel for the maturing of the saints, the growing of the church and the furthering of the kingdom of God in the world. We long to see women well supported in the ministries they are involved with – both formal and informal, equipped to do gospel work, using their talents in the service of the body of Christ, and being able to readily access networks and resources to enable them to do this.

One of the key resources Women’s Ministries Victoria provides is our On the Road conferences across Victoria each year. These conferences minister to both country and city churches. We offer gifted keynote speakers, and workshops which delve further into chosen topics. Our events are welcoming and refreshing and offer opportunities to engage in sound Biblical teaching by women and for women. We invite you to come On the Road with us!

On the Road Conference

We have a vision for women in all seasons of life to grow in maturity in Christ and to use their gifts alongside men as fellow workers in the Gospel.

OUR PURPOSE IS TO:

NURTURE

WMV seeks to grow and nurture all women of the PCV in their faith. We work with local churches to provide safe and encouraging environments for women to mature in their faith and knowledge of the Lord. We also provide biblically sound events and resources from reliable teachers to equip all women of the PCV.

(Luke 10:38-42, 1 Thessalonians 2:7-12, 5:12-15, Ephesians 4:1-16, Psalm 23)

DISCIPLE

WMV seeks to raise up disciple-making disciples of Jesus. We support women at every stage of their faith to draw near to Jesus, and to live a faithful life following his commands. We strive to equip older women to lead and teach younger women what it means to be a Christian woman, understanding our complementarian design and roles.

(Matthew 28:18-20, 2 Timothy 2:2, Titus 2:3-4, Genesis 1:27-28, 2:20-23)

SERVE

WMV seeks to encourage women to know and use their gifts to serve God and his people.  We work to provide opportunities for women to serve in their local congregations and in the wider community. We encourage women to understand that as Christians, all of life is to be lived in the service of the Lord.

(1 Peter 4:10, Colossians 3:23-24, Mark 10:44-45)

HISTORY

WMV was set up by the Christian Education and Nurture Committee (CENC) under the Victorian Assembly following the first WMPCA (Women's Ministries in the Presbyterian Church of Australia) Flourish Conference in 2009. The CENC sought to actively encourage the women in our state, investing resources to seeing them built up.

In 2020, the Victorian Assembly approved the creation of a separate Women’s Ministries Victoria committee to deliberately and strategically focus on encouraging robust women’s ministries throughout the state.

In 2022, the committee was able to employ a part-time Women’s Ministries Facilitator to facilitate, develop and encourage women’s ministries within the PCV.
